Accessibility Statement

Cross & York is committed to making pact-claim.com usable by every veteran and family member, including those who rely on assistive technology.

Our commitment

Cross & York works to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. WCAG 2.1 AA defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities. We also work to comply with the accessibility requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as applied to commercial websites.

What we have done

  • Semantic HTML landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) on every route so screen readers can navigate the page structure.
  • Sufficient color contrast against background, validated through the project's design tokens.
  • Keyboard-operable navigation, including focus-visible indicators on all interactive elements.
  • Form fields with associated labels, required-field indicators, and accessible error messaging.
  • Descriptive alt text on informational images and empty alt text on decorative images.
  • Responsive layouts that work at 200% zoom and on small mobile viewports without horizontal scrolling.
  • Use of the Radix UI primitives behind shadcn components, which provide ARIA roles and keyboard behavior out of the box.

Ongoing work

Accessibility is an iterative process. We review new pages and content against WCAG 2.1 AA before publication and re-audit the site periodically. If you find a barrier, we want to hear about it so we can address it directly.

Requesting assistance or reporting a barrier

If any content on pact-claim.com is not accessible to you, please contact us and we will provide the information in an alternative format and address the barrier:

Third-party content

Some pages link to documents hosted by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Federal Register, or other government sources. Cross & York does not control the accessibility of those external resources. If you cannot access a linked document, contact us and we will help you obtain the information another way.

Formal complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a formal complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
